NY Home Improvement Blog Patrol

If you've ever dreamed of fixing up an old house or building to raise a family in, read about a family that's actually doing it on the New York Times Habitats page. The Westergaards found a 1908 rowhouse in Ridgewood, Queens and after extensive renovations, they seem to be loving their new neighborhood and home. A brand new 6-burner Wolf stove probably didn't hurt!
Renovating a Farmhouse

The forum on Brownstoner has a fairly lively back and forth concerning a conversion question. The owner of a brownstone is looking to open a wall and convert the top three floors to a single unit. All sorts of moving and shaking will be involved, including the movement of one kitchen to the demolition of two extra kitchens. Count on the need for closet work, plumbing, heating, stairwell stuff...you name it. New Yorkers who know what's up come to cityhammer for this type of project, of course. Our featured member Andrew Bares of Brownstone Works NYC would probably be a great place to start.

Last but not least, run, don't walk, to read Maxwell's State of the Blog at Apartment Therapy, an incredibly inspiring and informative post on how AT got as big as it is, and where they want to go over the next year. We think AT is the gold standard of design and decor-related blogging, over 1.5 million uniques a month can't be wrong. Congrats, guys!
